Agreement to terms

By accessing or using Version Tracker, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you may not use the app.

License

When you purchase a license for Version Tracker, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software for personal or internal business use on your own devices. Redistribution, sublicensing, or resale is strictly prohibited.

Update coverage

Version Tracker relies on the package managers and update mechanisms already installed on your Mac. Effective support for the 39 sources depends on their prior presence — for example Homebrew, MacPorts, Conda, npm, pip, Cargo or Docker. Version Tracker does not install or configure these tools for you; it simply uses what is already present on your system.

Some applications do not integrate any automated update mechanism (no Sparkle framework, no Mac App Store presence, no Homebrew Cask package, etc.). In this case, Version Tracker can flag that a newer version is available, but installation remains manual: Version Tracker will offer to download it for you, and applying the update is your responsibility.

Finally, some applications provide no identifiable information about their origin (publisher, version, distribution source). These applications are automatically classified in the “Ignored” folder and must be tracked and updated outside of Version Tracker.

As a result, we do not guarantee the completeness of detection or the systematic automation of all updates. The level of coverage depends on your personal configuration and on the technical choices of each third-party publisher.

Prohibited uses

You agree not to use Version Tracker for any unlawful or harmful purpose, or in any way that may disrupt the app or services. You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or bypass any technical restrictions in the software.

Resale prohibited

You may not resell, distribute, or sublicense Version Tracker without our written permission.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Version Tracker and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business opportunities, system failure, or personal injury, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, whether based in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise.

Version Tracker is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or meet your specific requirements. You use the app at your own risk.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the use of Version Tracker shall not exceed the amount you paid (if any) for your license to use the app. If you are dissatisfied with any part of the app, your sole and exclusive remedy is to stop using it.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer of Version Tracker from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your violation of these terms or your use of the app.

Version Tracker may integrate with or rely on third-party services (such as Homebrew, Sparkle, or others). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of these third-party services and disclaim all liability arising from their use or failure. This includes, without limitation, inaccuracies or omissions in optional features.

We make no guarantee of ongoing support, feature availability, or future updates. Features may be modified or removed at any time without notice.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for certain types of damages. In such cases, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. This limitation of liability section shall survive the termination or expiration of these terms.

Disclaimer of warranties

Version Tracker is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements.

You assume full responsibility for any consequences resulting from the use of the app.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your license and access to Version Tracker at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the app and destroy any copies in your possession.

Intellectual property

Version Tracker, including all code, design, logos, and documentation, is the intellectual property of its developers. You may not use our name, branding, or assets without written permission.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with Portugal law.

Privacy

Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect and use your information.

Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users via the app or our website. Continued use after changes implies acceptance of the updated Terms.
