Overview

Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains how Version Tracker handles your data. In short: Version Tracker does not collect personal data through the app, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell user data to anyone. Any data shared by the app is strictly limited, optional, and described below.

What information we collect

We do not collect or store personal information such as your name, email address, or payment details on our own servers. Our website does use Google Analytics for general, aggregated usage statistics, as described in the Analytics section below.

All license purchases are handled by our payment and licensing partner, Lemon Squeezy. Any personal information you provide during checkout (such as your email) is processed directly by them in accordance with their own privacy policy: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

How Version Tracker works

Version Tracker runs entirely on your local machine and works with different sources to manage your applications. It does not upload or transmit your software inventory, system information, or files — with the exception of the following necessary, functional network requests:

• License validation — your license key is verified with our payment and licensing partner, Lemon Squeezy, to confirm your subscription status.
• Update checks for Version Tracker itself — the app periodically checks whether a newer version of Version Tracker is available.
• Update checks for your applications — to detect available updates, Version Tracker queries the official source for each app or package directly (for example the Homebrew API, GitHub Releases, Sparkle appcast feeds, or the Mac App Store), never through our own servers.

None of these requests include your name, your files, or a copy of your software inventory.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand general website usage — for example pages viewed, device and browser type, referring site, and approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address.

Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and assigns a randomized identifier to measure visits and traffic trends. This information is processed by Google on our behalf; your full IP address is not stored by Google Analytics, and we do not use this data to identify you personally or sell it.

You can opt out at any time by blocking analytics cookies in your browser or by installing Google's opt-out add-on. For details on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Data retention

Version Tracker does not retain personal user data. Any purchase-related data is stored securely by Lemon Squeezy and subject to their retention policy.

Your rights

If you made a purchase through Lemon Squeezy you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data through them. Version Tracker does not hold or control any of your personal data.

International users

If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with privacy regulations, you should know that:

• Through the app, we do not collect, process, or store personal data such as names or contact information.
• Our website uses Google Analytics; Google acts as a data processor, sets cookies, and processes limited usage data. You can opt out as described in the Analytics section above.
• All personal data is processed by Lemon Squeezy under their GDPR-compliant policies.
• No personal user data is transmitted by the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may notify users through our website or in-app.
