What the article says
The author describes Version Tracker as “a standalone updater, not a cleanup suite”. He notes that it checks 48 sources, including Homebrew, the Mac App Store, Sparkle, npm and pip, and calls that “broader coverage than anything else in this article”.
That distinction matters to me. Several tools in the roundup are utility suites that bundle an update check with cleaning features. Version Tracker only does one job: it finds what is outdated across every source on your Mac, and updates it. I wrote a whole page about what it is and what it is not.

The article gets the model right: the free tier scans with no time limit, and installing updates needs a paid licence, either 49,90 € once for one Mac or 19,90 € per year. It also notes that macOS 15 or later is required.
